Kahramaa Bill Calculator

Qatar General Electricity and Water Corporation expat tariff: QAR 0.32 per kWh for residential expats, plus water and meter fee. No VAT in Qatar as of 2026.

How Kahramaa tariff works

KAHRAMAA, Qatar General Electricity and Water Corporation, applies a flat residential electricity tariff of approximately QAR 0.32 per kWh to non-Qatari residents. Qatari nationals receive a free electricity and water allocation. Water is billed separately by cubic meter on the same bill, with its own tier structure. No VAT applies in Qatar. Commercial, industrial, agricultural, and governmental customers pay separate tariffs not covered here.

Worked example

A typical 3-bedroom Doha villa for an expat household using 2,500 kWh in summer cooling months: energy charge = 2,500 x 0.32 = QAR 800. A small fixed meter fee applies on top. No VAT is added in Qatar. The same household at 1,000 kWh in a milder month would pay around QAR 320 for electricity. Water is billed separately based on cubic meters consumed.

Frequently asked questions

How is KAHRAMAA residential tariff structured for expats?
For non-Qatari residents, electricity is billed at a flat residential rate of approximately QAR 0.32 per kWh. Water is billed separately by cubic meter. Qatari nationals receive a free utility allocation.
Is VAT charged on the KAHRAMAA bill?
No. Qatar does not currently impose VAT, so KAHRAMAA bills carry no value-added tax line. Only the energy and water charges plus any fixed meter fees apply.
What is the KAHRAMAA monthly meter charge?
A small fixed meter fee applies to residential connections; the energy charge based on kWh consumption is the dominant component of the bill.
Why is my actual KAHRAMAA bill different from the calculator?
Real bills include water consumption, fixed service charges, and any adjustments specific to your premise. Some compounds bill bulk meters that pass costs through with markup. This calculator estimates the residential expat electricity component only.
Do Qatari nationals pay for electricity?
Qatari citizens receive a generous free allocation of electricity and water for residential use. This calculator targets the expat tariff schedule.
