About QatarCalc
A small, independent set of calculators built for life in Qatar and the wider Qatar - finance, family, faith, and the everyday admin no global calculator covers correctly.
Why this exists
Most online calculators are built for the United States or Europe. They quietly assume a 40-hour week, a 1.5× overtime rate, a Friday-Sunday weekend, a tax bracket that doesn't exist in Qatar, and a calendar that ends on December 31. We use them anyway, and the answers we get are slightly wrong in ways that matter - gratuity short by a month, a tenancy budget that ignores Tenancy registration, a working-day count that includes Friday.
QatarCalc is the version where the rules are right the first time. Qatar labour law for gratuity, the current no-VAT position and excise rules, entered lender quotes for mortgages, and prayer times by city. The point is not to be the prettiest calculator on the internet - it is to be useful for a Qatar-context decision.
How we calculate
Every statutory formula on QatarCalc maps to a public source such as a law, ministry notice, published tariff, or established astronomical algorithm. Quote-based planners identify their inputs rather than inventing market limits. When a rule changes, we change the calculator.
- Taxes - Qatar General Tax Authority investor and excise-tax guidance.
- Gratuity, salary, working days - Qatar Labour Law No. 14 of 2004 and Ministry of Labour guidance.
- Visa and identity - published Qatar government guidance; fees are presented as estimates where they vary.
- Mortgage - the user's lender quote and the standard amortisation formula.
- KAHRAMAA - Qatar General Electricity & Water Corporation published tariff slabs.
- Prayer, Hijri - Umm al-Qura calendar; established astronomical methods (MWL, ISNA, Egyptian, etc.) per user setting.
- School fees, tenancy - quote-based planners that total the amounts in a school offer or tenancy contract without inventing local fee bands.
Update policy
We review every calculator on a rolling schedule and immediately when a law, tariff, or fee schedule changes. Each page shows a Last reviewed date and the source link. If you find a stale figure, please tell us - see the contact section below.
Privacy
All calculations run in your browser. Numbers you type never leave your device. We do not require sign-up, do not set marketing cookies, and do not run third-party trackers. The site uses Cloudflare for delivery and (optionally) Cloudflare Web Analytics, which counts visits without setting cookies or fingerprinting.
